on the home front

Just wanted to add a newer pic of Mirlo for those of you that have been keeping up with his progress.
He’s doing great, by the way, and has quickly become the house alpha male! The older cats love him, too. Here’s Snowey, my daughter’s cat, with Mirlo. We find them like this most days for their afternoon naps in the sun.
Here’s a pic of Zel just after arriving at the dorm and unpacking:
one leaves and another comes…
He’s got the sweetest face and the loudest purr…
We have a new kitty at our house. His name is Mirlo (pronounced Meer Low and means “beautiful” in another language- that being a made-up language from one of the stories my daughter is writing) and he’s a sweet little guy. Mirlo has only been with us a few days now. We picked him up from the vet Thursday evening and nursed him through the night. Actually, my daughter nursed him through the night and was exhausted the next morning so I’ve been bringing him in to the shop during the day.
We think our little guy must have crawled up into a car wheel or engine possibly and got knocked out along the way. I found him crawling on the side of the road early last Monday morning as I was headed for town. I thought I’d run back, drop him at my vet (she’s the best vet in town and is always patching dogs and cats up and sending on for adoption). But somehow along the way he stole my heart and I knew by the time I got to the vet we’d be patching him up and bringing him home ourselves.
His front legs looked pretty beat up and to make a long week much shorter, one of his front legs was broken in several places and had begun to compromise his circulation. Deb had to take his front left leg off last Thursday afternoon. The blue in the picture is not a knitted accessory to highlight his pretty blue eyes, but the bandage that will come off either later today or tomorrow.
We have two other cats at home; Rainey and Snowey – I’ll write about them later. They’re both about the same age- 11 and 12- and until they’ve become a bit more accepting of him, I’ll be bringing him into the shop during the day. Rest assured, though, as tempting as the image is, I just don’t believe cat’s belong in my yarn shop!

I do have a rug now so it’s not just concrete floors… though I do need to get a poster so the walls don’t look so bland…
that is one lucky cat.
actually, I was the lucky one to ever have known him…
