swatching silken straw
Jun 29th, 2010 by kennita
I get excited just looking at this yarn: “silken straw” from Alchemy Yarns.
I know the picture can’t do it justice.
Let me just say that it really is silk (100%) and it really does look – but not feel- like straw. Something about the beauty of this fiber stirs me from deep within. I feel a connection when I hold it in my hands that goes deeper than I can begin to explain.
Here’s a swatch I did over the weekend.
More coming soon so stay tuned for updates. This yarn will be in the shop sometime August or September in 10 beautiful colorways. In the meantime, you can read about Alchemy Yarns of Transformation at their website. Or stop in the shop and get an “earful”. It really is hard for me to contain myself when I start talking out this yarn!

Hi Kennita, I am home again! I love the swatch. Funny that you are thinking about silk and I am as well. I visited a shop in a town called Kraskop. There are a couple of silk businesses. I posted a link to one that I especially enjoyed reading about. I didn’t visit the village or the factory maybe next time?
I have had a very sad reentry. Two of my beloved outdoor kitties died from cytox the short name for that very bad tick borne illness. So my heart is heavy…but it was a good trip and I don’t regret going. I do however regret not taking the time to Frontline the outdoor cats. I hope to see you soon!
Stop by anytime. So sorry to hear of your kitties. I’ll check out your silk link.
